Hi Fly A380 makes history in Portuguese Aviation
23 July 2018
For the first time in history an Airbus A380, the biggest commercial aircraft in the world, landed in Portugal. Hi Fly is proud of being the airline that made this happen.
It was an historic moment, that called hundreds of people to the Beja Airport, looking forward to welcome the superjumbo. A remarkable aircraft that exhibits a unique livery in support of Mirpuri Foundation’s new campaign “Save the Coral Reefs”. The aircraft features two very dissimilar sides: one side in dark blue displaying destroyed corals contrasting with a light blue side representing a pristine ocean with colourful and healthy marine life. With this initiative Hi Fly aims to amplify the campaign’s impact by reaching all corners on earth and inspiring the change of collective behaviours.
Hi Fly’s A380 is powered by one of the most reliable engines in the world, the Rolls Royce Trent 900 model and can transport a total of 471 passengers distributed between three classes. The main deck has the First class for 12 passengers and Economy class for 311 passengers while the upper deck has Business and Economy class seats carrying 60 and 88 passengers respectively. In a high density version, the aircraft can carry up to 853 passengers.
The acquisition of the A380 was a major event for Hi Fly and for the industry, making it the 4th European airline operating the model, the 14th global operator and the first leasing airline to fly the aircraft.
